PayTo is an easy, fast, and secure way to make payments from your bank account. It gives you control over your payments — with the ability to see, manage, and cancel PayTo payment agreements right from your banking app.

Why use PayTo?

PayTo is a faster way to add money to your Spaceship account. While regular direct debits can take 2–3 business days, PayTo processes payments much faster using Australia’s New Payments Platform (NPP).

Here’s why we like it:

  • It’s free: there are no extra fees.

  • It’s fast: your money arrives sooner so you can invest sooner.

  • You’re in control: You can manage PayTo agreements safely in your banking app.

How do I set up and authorise PayTo?

In the Spaceship app:

  • Open the app.

  • Tap on ‘Menu’.

  • Tap on ‘Linked bank account’.

  • Select ‘Upgrade to PayTo’.

  • Follow the prompts.

When you’ve completed these steps, your bank will send you a notification (usually via email or push). Follow these steps:

  • Open your banking app or online banking.

  • Look for ‘PayTo’ or ‘Payment agreements’.

  • Find the agreement request from Spaceship Capital Limited.

  • Review the terms and tap authorise.

We’ve listed specific steps for Commonwealth Bank (CBA), ING, National Australia Bank (NAB), ANZ, and Westpac here.

What if my bank doesn’t support PayTo?

We’ll continue to support direct debit payments for anyone who has a linked bank account from a bank that doesn’t support PayTo.

Alternatively, you can change your linked bank account in the Spaceship app. Here’s how:

  • Open the app.

  • Tap on ‘Menu’.

  • Tap on ‘Linked bank account’.

  • Follow the prompts.

Before you can link a new bank account, we’ll need to perform a security check. This helps keep Spaceship and your account secure.

To complete the security check, all you’ll need is a current driver licence, passport or proof of age card. We’ll ask you to take a photo of your identification document, confirm your details, and do a live selfie.

Once we complete the security check, you’ll be able to link your new bank account.

When will PayTo be used for my investments?

We’ll use PayTo when:

  • You’ve set up and authorised your PayTo agreement.

  • You don’t have enough money in your ‘available money’ balance.

  • The payment is within the limit set on your PayTo Agreement.

If not, we’ll use direct debit instead.

Are there any limits?

Your bank may set limits on PayTo payments, and for added security, Spaceship may set an even lower limit than that of your bank.

To see your PayTo limit:

  • Open the app.

  • Tap on ‘Menu’.

  • Tap on ‘Linked bank account’.

  • Check your PayTo limits.
