Our brokerage provider, Alpaca Securities, holds securities in custody on your behalf in the US. All securities in accounts carried and cleared by Alpaca are protected per the Securities Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC) for up to US$500,000 (including up to US$250,000 for uninvested cash) for each customer. For more details on SIPC, visit sipc.org.

This helps protect you, as you'll be treated the same as a resident or citizen of the US.

It's important to note that SIPC doesn't protect against any decline in the market value of your securities.

SIPC generally gets involved when a brokerage firm fails and SIPC appoints a trustee to manage the liquidation of the firm for the protection of customers. This means in the unlikely event that Spaceship's brokerage provider ceased to operate, you'd still have access to your securities.
