Will I earn dividends and distributions on my Spaceship Voyager portfolio?

The Spaceship Voyager portfolios may invest in securities that pay dividends to shareholders.

If a security pays a dividend, it will be treated as income by the relevant Spaceship Voyager portfolio, and will generally be distributed to unitholders in the portfolio annually.

To be eligible for a distribution, you must be a unitholder — that is, you must be invested in a Spaceship Voyager portfolio — on the distribution calculation date. The distribution calculation date generally takes place annually, and is on or around 30 June each year.

Why didn’t I receive a distribution?

If you withdraw your entire balance in a Spaceship Voyager portfolio before the annual distribution calculation date (typically on or around 30 June each year), you will not receive a distribution.

However, because dividends are treated as income by the Spaceship Voyager portfolios, they are reinvested in the portfolio and this is reflected in the unit price.

On the distribution date, we deduct the total distribution from the portfolio, which in turn, reduces the unit price of the portfolio. So, while you will not receive a distribution, your share of the portfolio’s income is reflected in the unit price you receive when you withdraw your Spaceship Voyager balance.

In some years, certain portfolios may not make distributions at all if they're in a taxable loss position for the relevant period.

Additionally, you may also not receive a distribution if your investment amount is relatively small. Since the total distribution amount varies each year based on the fund's performance, smaller holdings might result in a distribution amount that's too minimal to process. The threshold varies depending on the size and performance of each individual portfolio.

Note: You will only receive a tax/AMMA statement if you receive a distribution.
